CLASS II 50M WET BELL OFFSHORE DIVING
(4 Weeks in the Combo Course)

Â
A Class II 50m diver is one who can work in the offshore oil & gas diving industry, it is the most well-known area of commercial diving, with divers working in support of the exploration and production of the oil and gas industry. Divers work around the world from one end to the other.
This qualification allows a diver to dive to a maximum working depth of 50m breathing air or EAN NITROX (enriched air mixture of higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content than air) whilst using surface supplied diving techniques. The diver can use a wet bell and dive stage / basket, the class II diver is also trained in the operation and use of decompression chambers as well as all the general underwater tools including wet welding and underwater cutting procedures. However wet welding only makes up for 2% of the underwater work around the world. This wet welding training only covers basic welding techniques, sadly some dive schools promote coded underwater welding courses to new divers, saying there is a massive demand for diver welders. Most people looking at getting into commercial diving do not research the diving industry enough before choosing a school and the courses offered.  The cost of training is high, and it is vital that to do your research well. This level of diver (Class II) generally works offshore in the oil and gas industry doing similar work to a saturation diver but only up to a depth of 50 meters. This is the highest level of AIR diver in commercial diving.
